Do you really only charge regular rates on weekends?
Yes we do! At Red Sky Plumbing Co. we know that life doesn’t stop on Fridays. We live in a 7-day-a-week world, and not everyone can schedule service during traditional weekday hours. Why is my hot water not getting hot?
If your hot water isn’t getting hot, there could be a few different causes depending on your system type. For gas water heaters, a common issue is the pilot light going out, a gas supply problem, or sediment buildup in the tank. For electric water heaters, you might have a tripped breaker, burned-out heating element, or a faulty thermostat. If you have a tankless (on-demand) system, gas or electric, low water flow, scale buildup, or too many taps running at once can stop it from heating properly. Try checking for simple fixes like relighting the pilot or resetting the breaker, but if the problem continues, it’s best to call a licensed plumber (Hey that’s us at Red Sky Plumbing!) to safely diagnose and repair the issue.

My sink/Tub is plugged, should i use drain chemical to clear it?
It’s best to avoid using chemical drain cleaners. While they may seem like a quick fix, these harsh chemicals can actually cause more harm than good. If the clog doesn’t clear right away, the chemicals can sit in your pipes, slowly eating away at the plumbing and causing long-term damage. They’re also dangerous for plumbers, if a professional later uses mechanical tools (like a drain snake) to clear the clog, they can be burned or injured by leftover chemicals in the line. The safest and most effective way to clear a blockage is to have it removed mechanically by a licensed plumber. This method protects both your plumbing system and anyone working on it.

Why is my Toilet always running?
A toilet that’s constantly running is usually caused by a worn-out flapper, a faulty fill valve, or sometimes a crack in the overflow tube. These small parts control how water fills and drains in your toilet tank, and when they stop working properly, water keeps flowing nonstop. The good news is that this is usually an easy and inexpensive repair. It’s best to have a licensed plumber take a look, at Red Sky Plumbing Co. we’re toilet repair experts who can quickly assess the problem and make the fix fast and painlessly, saving you water and preventing higher utility bills.

What's better a Hot water Tank or on demand system?
Both traditional hot water tanks and on-demand (tankless) systems have their advantages. A hot water tank stores heated water, making it great for homes that use a lot of hot water at once and offering lower upfront costs. However, it constantly keeps water hot, which means higher energy use and heat loss over time. An on-demand water heater only heats water when you need it, so it’s more energy-efficient, saves space, and can lower your utility bills. The downside is a higher initial cost and sometimes slower flow if multiple fixtures run at once. Overall, on-demand systems especially high-efficiency gas or electric models are the most environmentally friendly option, providing long-term savings and reducing your home’s carbon footprint.

How can I protect my family during a boil water advisory?
Boil water advisories are becoming more common, often caused by water main breaks, contamination, or system failures that let harmful bacteria enter the water supply. Boiling water helps temporarily, but it’s inconvenient and doesn’t protect your entire home. The best long-term solution is a whole home water filtration system paired with a reverse osmosis (RO) system. Whole home filters remove sediment, chlorine, and harmful contaminants before the water reaches your faucets, while reverse osmosis provides an extra layer of purification for your drinking and cooking water, eliminating bacteria, viruses, and dissolved solids. Together, they give you safe, great-tasting water from every tap, so you never have to worry when a boil water advisory hits. Is it actually worth flushing my hot water tank?
Flushing your hot water tank is absolutely worth it and it’s not a gimmick. Over time, sediment and minerals from your water supply settle at the bottom of the tank. This buildup makes your heater work harder, reducing efficiency, increasing energy costs, and even shortening the life of the tank. Flushing the tank once a year helps remove that sediment, keeping your water heater running efficiently and preventing issues like popping noises, lukewarm water, or rust-colored water. It’s a quick, affordable maintenance task that can save you money in the long run. If you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, a licensed plumber can handle it safely and ensure your system is in top shape.

Why is there a bad smell coming from my Sink/tub?
A bad smell coming from your sink or tub is often caused by a dry or empty drain trap. The trap is the curved section of pipe under your drain that holds a small amount of water, it acts as a barrier to keep sewer gases from coming up into your home. If a bathroom or guest washroom isn’t used for weeks, that water can evaporate, letting unpleasant odors escape. Running the tap for a few seconds will refill the trap and usually stop the smell. Other possible causes include buildup of soap scum, hair, or debris in the drain, or even a venting issue in your plumbing system. If the smell doesn’t go away after running water or cleaning the drain, it’s best to call a licensed plumber to inspect for deeper plumbing problems.

I'm tired of scraping hard water scale off my fixtures, what can I do?
Hard water leaves behind calcium and magnesium deposits that cause white scale buildup on faucets, showerheads, and appliances. Over time, this buildup clogs plumbing, reduces water pressure, and shortens the life of your water heater and dishwasher. A professional water softener installation removes these hardness minerals, protecting your home from scale and saving you time on cleaning. Enjoy spot-free dishes, softer skin, and longer-lasting plumbing with a whole-home water softener. Contact us today to have your water tested and discuss options for softening your water!
